What does the expression “put upon” mean?
Definition: imposed on, taken advantage of
Example: My mom feels put upon when I show up with a large group of friends and ask her to cook for us.
Notes: This is often used with “feel,” as in the example. The preposition “upon” does not have an object—the expression is used at the end of a sentence or phrase.
