What does the idiom “sticker shock” mean?
Defintion: Surprise at the high price of something
Example: I was looking at that beautiful ring as a Valentine’s gift for my girlfriend. But then I looked at the price, and I felt sticker shock.
Note: This originally applied to cars, where the price is shown on a large sticker on the window. But it’s now more generally used.
